The books below are those that I myself have found useful. The Encyclopedia of Country Living is about an 8/11 size book and about 3 inches wide. It is full of information on planting, choosing land, preparing land, choosing plants and harvesting them. It also is full of good information about animal care and butchering, as well as a ton of useful information. I just got the book and thumbed through it quickly and let me tell you, I was very impressed with it.
